Why not stick your nose out?

A group of us riding at about 40kmh on Sunday morning when the car coming in on the side road decides not to stop at the white line to let the passing traffic pass, instead he puts his car nose out into our lane. Luckily, he braked when I shouted or else myself and the rider behind me could have been cartwheeling over his bonnet.
